AGD340 command and diagnostic reference

Use the AGD340 serial command set to check identity, configuration and self-test information without bypassing the approved calibration process.

Connection settings

The later TAN18 source gives a default RS422 setting of 115200 baud, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit and no flow control. At boot, the radar reports its firmware and the operating baud rate at 115200 before switching to a stored higher rate. Confirm the exact build because earlier material describes 921600 as the normal operating rate.

Common commands

Command

Purpose

AGD or #AGD

Report the radar name and firmware version

*AD

Read the configured mounting angle

BAUD

Read or set the RS422 baud rate a new setting takes effect after reboot

CHECK-ADC

Check the DC offsets of the I and Q channels

*CRC

Report the BIOS and main firmware checksums

DIRECTION

Read or select approaching receding or dual direction

*DM

Read or change diagnostic message output

*FE

Report the latest frequency error measurement

*FFD

Load the factory configuration from EEPROM

LIFE

Report time powered number of boots and valid detections

*LS

Read or set the low speed threshold minimum 20 km/h in the source manual

SELF-TEST

Run the internal approaching and receding target simulation

*SL

Select low or high sensitivity

*SN

Read the serial number

*SU or UNITS

Read or select mph or km/h

*TGT

Create a labelled simulated target message sequence

TEMP

Read the internal radar temperature

VERSION

Report the application firmware version

*VN

Report DSP board security values on earlier hardware

Diagnostic limits

  • Use diagnostic mode only where the communications link has enough bandwidth for the additional messages.
  • A failed hardware self-test can stop the analogue-to-digital converter and leave the radar inactive. Record the error and contact AGD Technical Support.
  • On revised CB-206 issue 14 hardware with MI-099-2 bootloader support, the *VN command no longer returns a unique flash identifier.
  • Do not use factory or firmware-loading commands unless the work is covered by an approved service procedure.
